Amarillo

It must have been 1995 or so, when my job required me to go to Amarillo Texas.
My wife Gertrude (AKA Shelly) went with me, the company paid for a nice motel room and somebody paid for a great steak dinner which was followed by live entertainment.
The entertainment was a country band, and even though I like to rock , these guys were pretty good.

Fast forward 19 years to Sunday.

I wake up with music playing in my head, as I often do, (is that normal?) Gertrude was already up and I started trying to tell her what song it was.
"We heard it in Amarillo."
"It's about a down on his luck cowboy."
"Some Texas town by morning."
Then, stupid me, it finally hits.
"AMARILLO BY MORNING!"

[Okay Tex, but why are you telling us this?]

Hang in there.

I haven't heard or thought about this song in 19 years. (I never listen to country music.)

Fast forward two days.

I'm listening to Infowars and what song do they play?

 AMARILLO BY MORNING!

That kind of synchronicity freaks me out.

Synchronicity or ("I'll take "What freaks Tex out." for $200 Alex.)

Synchronicity is the experience of two or more events as meaningfully related, whereas they are unlikely to be causally related.
 The subject sees it as a meaningful coincidence, although the events need not be exactly simultaneous in time.
The concept of synchronicity was first described by Carl Gustav Jung, a Swiss psychologist, in the 1920s.^[1]

The concept does not question, or compete with, the notion of causality. Instead, it maintains that just as events may be connected by a causal line, they may also be connected by meaning.
A grouping of events by meaning need not have an explanation in terms of cause and effect.
In addition to Jung, Arthur Koestler wrote extensively on synchronicity in The Roots of Coincidence.^[2]

I just experienced a little synchronicity, which always seems to freak me out a little.

Earlier I posted the song "I will Survive" by Cake.

I turn on the TV, it's an episode of Will and Grace.

Right when I start watching it.

They go into a bar, wondering if it's a gay bar.

The song "I will Survive" starts playing. (By Gloria Gaynor , I think.)  Okay, not by Cake, but still.

They say "Yeah, it's a Gay Bar."

Okay, that made me say "Wow, there's some synchronicity for you!"

But as if that weren't enough...

Will and Grace are in their apartment (same episode) and there's a song playing in the background.

I get close to the TV to make sure I'm hearing it right.

Yep, it's "How's it Going to be?"  by Third Eye Blind!

F**k me a runnin' backwards up a tree! (To use a colloquialism or maybe it's universal, I'm not sure.)

Now that's some major synchronicity for you.

BTW, it was the Will and Grace that came on at 5:00 pm CST Saturday, November 9th, 2013 on We.

A fleur-de-lis

The fleur-de-lis or fleur-de-lys (plural: fleurs-de-lis)^{[pron 1]} is a stylized lily (in French, fleur means flower, and lis means lily) or iris that is used as a decorative design or symbol.

I had an unusual experience Friday. I was watching a video and saw this symbol, the fleur-de-lis.

I know, so what?

I don't know if my mind was just very open or if there was some kind of synchronicity involved, but after I watched that video I started seeing the symbol EVERYWHERE.

I went to the store and there was a statue of the fleur-de-lis. I went home and saw it on TV many times on Friday, it was starting to kind of blow my mind.

After Shelly got home I was telling her about it and while trying to describe it, I noticed there was one on her shirt!

F*ck me running, backwards up a tree!

Then we were watching some home improvement show and I thought I caught a glimpse of it on the side of a pickup.

I rewound and sure enough, it was.

I can usually figure it out when the universe seems to be trying to tell me something, but this one is a real head scratcher.
