OKLAHOMA CITY – Anti-war protesters are gearing up for major rallies and marches around the country tomorrow as it appears that the U.S. is going to go it alone in an unconstitutional military attack on Syria, possibly as soon as this weekend.
Here in Oklahoma City, The peace House, Oklahoma Center for Conscience, Americans Against the Next War and other local groups are gathering at Northwest Expressway and Pennsylvania Avenue, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m., for a rally protesting American military intervention in Syria.
And up in Tulsa, there will be a “No War with Syria” rally held at 101st Street and Memorial at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
As the Tulsa activists note on their Facebook page: “The situation in Syria is a delicate one. There are no clear ‘good guys.’ What is clear is that if President Obama decides to attack the Syrian regime, the United State will be on the same side as al-Qaeda.”
We at Red Dirt Report agree. This imminent attack on Syria, a country that has not attacked or threatened the United States, is clearly unconstitutional and immoral.
In a piece that Patrick J. Buchanan wrote, posted at Antiwar.com, he says House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) should “remind the president that U.S. cruise missile strikes on Syria, killing soldiers and civilians alike, would be the unconstitutional and impeachable acts of a rogue president.”
