Two Basic Personality Types

From "The Enemy Within" By Kirby Ferris

There seems to be two basic personality types involved in the “gun control” debate. They are:

1. The “cold, dead fingers” crowd, who, because of combat or law enforcement experience, a personal encounter with violent crime, or a thoughtful analysis of history (mixed in with some simple common sense), realize that personal self defense is a natural right, an unalienable right. It is a right that is not merely a privilege granted to you by government. And to many, along with the defense of the innocent, it is a mandate of their deepest religious beliefs.

2. The “only soldiers and the police should have guns” crowd. These patently illogical and deluded individuals have a perverse trust in government, especially Big Government. In fact, for most of them, the Bigger the Better… ala the United Nations. Many of them are mentally ill. See psychiatrist Dr. Sarah Thompson’s terrifically insightful essay here: "Raging Against Self Defense"

The only reason those in the #2 crowd haven't stormed our houses yet is because they know those of in the #1 crowd can take out at least 10 of them for every one of us they try to take down.

And, btw, how appropriate to name them #2. Because they are.

And btw btw, thanks for the visit the other day; it's been a while since I've been here. I obviously should stop by more often.

The #2s *snickers at thought of where he could go with that name* fear a revolution - apparently oblivious to the fact pick-up trucks full of mullets with shotguns are no match for a squadron of stealth aircraft armed with cluster-bombs and auto .50s.
Revolt, like terrorism, is the perpetual dread of those who claim to cherish the will of the people, yet constantly act in defiance thereof.
We'll not explore in detail here how Vaticanism has wrought through the centuries to manipulate both the state and the individual to its own advantage and empowerment...History should suffice!

Snarky - I agree, and once that starts happening (heaven forbid) it may no longer be as simple a procedure. If they start kicking down doors and taking peoples guns, the people will band together. You see the cops outside your neighbors house fixing to grab their guns, they start getting fired upon from many unexpected places, from outside the house that they are attacking. Cops could no longer drive down the road, happy go lucky, eating donuts and drinking coffee. You would see wrecked cop cars full of bullet holes. They can only police us because we let them. All of that would be out the window in no time, there would be no police.

Ted - Yes, the police being gone would lead to military intervention but I think they would have to use foreign troops because most American troops would defy orders to fire on fellow Americans (Oath Keepers) and true American soldiers. It wouldn't be pretty and who knows how it would end up but don't underestimate a bunch of angry Americans who are no longer willing to follow the rules.
