In the backyard
I found a marble
that the dog unearthed
I wondered what child
how long ago
last played with it
I'd like to know
was it 1920?
when this house was new?
1940 or 52?
was the kid nice
or a brat?
skinny and tall
or fat?
I think I'll keep it
but before I go
I'll put it back
don't you know?

sweet poem...
are you actually old enough to remember playing marbles?...I remember us finding a soft place in the dirt...smoothing it all out and playing marbles ..squatting on our haunches, sweat pouring off our faces into the dirt making little mud drops..and this one kid who always tried to cheat...lil' bastid..and no it wasn't me..
Thanks, I or Bob really did find it this afternoon and yes, I'm that old. I think that's where the term "playing for keeps" originated.
I have a marble jar full of cats eyes and purees and steelies....yeah how much fun is that?
Goss! Cat's eyes? That's sick!
Oh you mean the marble kind. I lost my marbles a long time ago.
