I wish I had more psychic activity to report. This is hardly blog worthy but Shelly and I were at an event and everyone had a ticket. They were about to draw a winning ticket when I got a feeling that they were going to draw my number. I quickly asked Shelly if she wanted my ticket (because I don't like getting up in front of large groups of people). She said "Sure." right then they drew my ticket.
Later that night on the way home a thought popped into my head. I said "This would be a good night to rob a store." (because all the cops are busy trying to make sure people don't drink and drive.) We got home and a few minutes later someone told us that a business owner in town had just been robbed at gunpoint! BTW, we don't live in Dallas or some large city, it's a very small town with only three or four businesses open at night and the crime rate is very low. Anyway that's all I've got for now.

Salsa Tree
I was changing stations on the radio today and accidentally put it on a Christian Music station and the words that I heard in that three seconds really stuck in my head.
"Jesus you're my destiny." "Jesus you're my Salsa tree."
I've been thinking about Salsa trees ever since.
It also reminded my of the time that I was driving home early Sunday morning through Bakersfield...

Alien Technology
Ø The elimination of oil, coal and gas as sources of energy generation, thus the elimination of air and water pollution related to the transport and use of these fuels. Oil spills, global warming, illnesses from air pollution, acid rain etc can and must be ended within 10-20 years;
Ø Resource depletion and geo-political tensions arising from competition for fossil fuel resources will end;
Ø Technologies already exist to scrub manufacturing effluent to zero or near zero emissions for both air and water-but they use a great deal of energy and thus are considered too costly to fully utilize. Moreover, since they are energy intensive, and our energy systems today create most of the air pollution in the world, a point of diminishing return for the environment is reached quickly. That equation is dramatically changed when industries are able to tap vast amounts of free energy (there is no fuel to pay for - only the device, which is no more costly than other generators) and those systems create no pollution.
Ø Energy-intensive recycling efforts will be able to reach full application since the energy needed to process solid waste will, again, be free and abundant.
Ø Agriculture, which is currently very energy dependent and polluting, can be transformed to use clean, non-polluting sources of energy.
Ø Desertification can be reversed and world agriculture empowered by utilizing desalinization plants, which are now very energy intensive and expensive, but will become cost-efficient once able to use these new, non-polluting energy systems.
Ø Air travel, trucking and inter-city transportation systems will be replaced with new energy and propulsion technologies (anti-gravity systems allow for silent above surface movement). No pollution will be generated and costs will decrease substantially since the energy expenses will be negligible. Additionally, mass transportation in urban areas can utilize these systems to provide silent, efficient intra-city movement.
Ø Noise pollution from jets, trucks and other modes of transportation will be eliminated by the use of these silent devices.
Ø Public utilities will not be needed since each home, office and factory will have a device to generate whatever energy is needed. This means ugly transmission lines that are subject to storm damage and power interruption will be a thing of the past. Underground gas pipelines, which not infrequently rupture or leak and damage Earth and water resources, will not be needed at all.
Ø Nuclear power plants will be decommissioned and the technologies needed to clean such sites will be available. Classified technologies do exist to neutralize nuclear waste.
Utopia? No, because human society will always be imperfect - but perhaps not as dysfunctional as it is today. These technologies are real. Anti-gravity is a reality and so is free energy generation. This is not a fantasy or a hoax. Do not believe those who say that this is not possible: they are the intellectual descendants of those who said the Wright brothers would never fly.

Beds are Burning
This is a political song about giving native Australian lands back to the the Pintupi, who were among the very last people to come in from the desert. These 'last contact' people began moving from the Gibson Desert to settlements and missions in the 1930s. More were forcibly moved during the 1950's and 1960's to the Papunya settlement. In 1981 they left to return to their own country and established the Kintore community which is nestled in the picturesque Kintore Ranges, surrounded by Mulga and Spinifex country. It is now a thriving little community with a population of about 400.
Regarding the line, "From Kintore East to Yuendemu," Yuendemu is an aboriginal community in Central Australia, 250 Kilometers northwest of Alice Springs. (thanks, Dave Malkoff - San Francisco, CA, for above 2)
Midnight Oil performed this in front of a world audience of billions, (including Prime Minister John Howard who has claimed this is his favorite Midnight Oil song) at the closing ceremony of the 2000 Sydney Olympics. The whole band were dressed in black, with the words "sorry" printed conspicuously on their clothes. This was a reference to the Prime Minister's refusal to apologize, on behalf of Australia, to the Aboriginal Australians for the way they have been treated over the last 200 years. (thanks, Edward Pearce - Ashford, Kent, England)
Out where the river broke
The bloodwood and the desert oak
Holden wrecks and boiling diesels
Steam in forty five degrees
The time has come
To say fair's fair
To pay the rent
To pay our share
The time has come
A fact's a fact
It belongs to them
Let's give it back
How can we dance when our earth is turning
How do we sleep while our beds are burning
Four wheels scare the cockatoos
From Kintore East to Yuendemu
The western desert lives and breathes
In forty five degrees

Run Forest!
Ouch, I had a little crick in my neck this morning and now I can barely move.
"What a drag it is getting old."
I've got a doctor's appointment this afternoon. I feel so strange (more so than usual) time is going by very slowly and I feel a whole lot of underlying energy, like I need to run around town in my underwear and flip flops yelling "It hurts! That would probably overwhelm the P.D. "Be on the look out for a large headed man with a beer belly in tightey whiteys." "Appears to be agitated and has a farmers tan."

Navajo Tacos
All right! Today we are going to my mom and dad's house for lunch. We are going to have Navajo taco's. When I was a kid we lived in New Mexico on the Navajo reservation and mom learned how to cook fry bread. Navajo tacos are one of my favorite things to eat. It's probably too much to hope for but I hope she made a German chocolate cake too. If I eat all that I can probably save gas and just roll back home.

"Smokes!" It was fifteen after the hour, smoke time at the Mental Hospital. "I've got some Barclays, baby." said a gravely voice, coming from a middle aged, graying black man dressed in state khaki pants, shirt and slip on tennis shoes. (No shoe strings allowed.)
"Juice!" ... "Juice!" Morton liked to walk around the ward saying "Juice" he was one of the only patients that didn't smoke but he never missed a meal or a snack and it showed.
Tipton, the big Indian that didn't talk, set at the metal table enjoying his cigarette. He tapped on the table the same rhythm that he always tapped. Two fast taps followed by two slower taps, he usually moaned quietly while doing this. He had been in institutions since he was a boy. He had scars on his arms from when he broke out an aide station window when he was young. Tipton wore blue overalls, was about 6' 4" and weighed about 280 lbs. He was a real sweetheart of a guy but was very intimidating if you didn't know him. Most of the time when he came back from ground privileges his pockets would be full of things that people would give him when he walked up to them and didn't say anything.

News and Questions Why are we there?
News - KABUL, Afghanistan - U.S.-led troops and Afghan forces killed nine Afghan police Sunday, calling in airstrikes and fighting on the ground for four hours after both sides mistook the other for militants, Afghan officials said.
In a separate incident, NATO said it accidentally killed at least four Afghan civilians Saturday night.
Question - Why are we there? We invaded Iraq because they had weapons of mass destruction. They didn't but at least we had a big fat lie for a reason to be there.
Some might say that we (the U.S.) are in Afghanistan because of 9-11 but even if you don't think that it was an inside job, you surely must know that most of the hijackers were from Saudi Arabia. Here is a list of the hijackers names and the countries that they were from.
Marwan al-Shehhi (from the United Arab Emirates), Fayez Banihammad (from the United Arab Emirates), Mohand al-Shehri (Saudi Arabian), Hamza al-Ghamdi (Saudi Arabian), Ahmed al-Ghamdi (Saudi Arabian).
Mohamed Atta al Sayed (Egyptian), Waleed al-Shehri (Saudi Arabian), Wail al-Shehri (Saudi Arabian), Abdulaziz al-Omari (Saudi Arabian), Satam al-Suqami (Saudi Arabian).
Ziad Jarrah (Lebanese), Ahmed al-Haznawi (Saudi Arabian), Ahmed al-Nami (Saudi Arabian), Saeed al-Ghamdi (Saudi Arabian).
Hani Hanjour (Saudi Arabian), Khalid al-Mihdhar (Saudi Arabian), Majed Moqed (Saudi Arabian), Nawaf al-Hazmi (Saudi Arabian), Salem al-Hazmi (Saudi Arabian).
So what does President George W. Bush do to punish Saudi Arabia?
The U.S. will offer Saudi Arabia the chance to buy sophisticated Joint Direct Attack Munitions - or "smart bomb" - technology and related equipment, the State Department said. The administration envisions the transfer of 900 of the precision-guided bomb kits, worth $123 million, that would give the kingdom's armed forces highly accurate targeting abilities.
The sale is part of an overall $20 billion weapons package for Saudi Arabia, administration officials say.
So back to my original question. Why is the U.S. in Afghanistan?
Wouldn't it have been a much smarter and more justified for the U.S. to attack Saudi Arabia after 9-11?

The Bar
The sound of laughter greeted us as we entered the bar that was down the stairs and to the right or up the stairs and to the left for that matter. The woman that told us to "Sit anywhere you'd like." was attractive but gave off a kind of macho vibe. We opted to sit on the balcony, the weather was great by Oklahoma standards, the wind was less than 25 mph, the humidity was under 80% and the temperature was below 95, almost perfect. The people at the next table were having a good time, most had been drinking for a while. They were very friendly and asked if we were from some web site that I can't remember the name of. They were having a get together for members of that site. It slowly began to sink into my freakishly large head that this was a primarily, gay bar. I didn't care though, the food was good and the conversation coming from the party was so much better than what I'm use to hearing in public. I mean intellectual stuff like string theory and matter antimatter. I'm use to hearing about baseball, cows and tractors. I mean if it were cows that played baseball while driving tractors, then I might be interested.
I noticed a silver cross in the window across from the bar. "That makes me think of vampires."
Shelly said "I thought about vampires a while ago when we were in the antique shop." "Did you see that guy?" "If he's not a vampire, he would sure make a good one in a movie!"
I tried to think of something smart to say. "It was daytime though, why didn't the sunlight hurt him?"
Shelly replied "There was no sunlight in that room at the back, just lamp light, smart guy."
I tried to think of something else smart to say. "Let's try to get back to the motel before dark." "I...don't know these streets very well, they're kind of tricky."

McCain: I'll Cut Deficits Like Reagan
"When Senator John McCain was asked how he plans to balance the budget, he said that he hoped to do so by stimulating economic growth - and approvingly cited the example of President Ronald Reagan," the New York Times reports.
"There was one thing he did not mention during his response: the deficit nearly tripled during the Reagan presidency, partly due to tax cuts and increases in military spending."
During his 1980 campaign, Ronald Reagan promised to balance the federal budget. In an effort to balance the budget, Reagan cut in virtually every department of government. He cut back social programs and payments for people with disabilities and cut funding of school-lunch programs. Regan started a massive military buildup, Pentagon spending would reach $34 million an hour during his administration.
When, in August 1981, Reagan signed his Recovery Act into law at Rancho del Cielo, his Santa Barbara ranch, he promised to find additional cuts to balance the budget, which had a projected deficit of $80 billion - the largest, to that date, in U.S. history.
By November 1982, unemployment reached, nine million, the highest rate since the Depression; 17,000 businesses failed, the second highest number since 1933; farmers lost their land; and many sick, elderly, and poor became homeless.
The country lived through the recession for a full year before Reagan finally admitted publicly that the economy was in trouble. His budget cuts, which hurt the poor, and his tax cuts, which favored the rich, combined with the hardships of a recession, spawned the belief that Reagan was insensitive to his people's needs.
By the end of his terms Ronald Reagan not only didn't balance the federal budget but now the nation's debt was larger than all the debt accumulated by all the presidents before him combined.
From 1983 through 1985, with a Republican Senate, the debt was increasing at over 17% per year. While Mr. Reagan was in office this nation’s debt went from just under 1 trillion dollars to over 2.6 trillion dollars, a 200% increase. The sad part about this increase is that it was not to educate our children, or to improve our infrastructure, or to help the poor, or even to finance a war. Reagan’s enormous increase in the national debt was not to pay for any noble cause at all; his primary unapologetic goal was to pad the pockets of the rich.

Israeli airstrike on Syria
March 11, 2008 06:52 PM ET
Israel's airstrike deep in Syria last October was reported to have targeted a nuclear-related facility, but details have remained sketchy and some experts have been skeptical that Syria had a covert nuclear program. An alternative scenario floating in Israel and Lebanon is that the real purpose of the strike was to force Syria to switch on the targeting electronics for newly received Russian anti-aircraft defenses. The location of the strike is seen as on a likely flight path to Iran (also crossing the friendly Kurdish-controlled Northern Iraq), and knowing the electronic signatures of the defensive systems is necessary to reduce the risks for warplanes heading to targets in Iran.
Israeli President Shimon Peres said earlier this month that Israel will not consider unilateral action to stop Iran from getting a nuclear bomb. In the past, though, Israeli officials have quite consistently said they were prepared to act alone -- if that becomes necessary -- to ensure that Iran does not cross a nuclear weapons threshold. Was Peres speaking for himself, or has President Bush given the Israelis an assurance that they won't have to act alone?

"Don't you try to pretend
It's my feeling we'll win in the end
I won't harm you or touch your defenses
Vanity and security"

Drug Agent Is Really an Impostor
The strange adventures of Sergeant Bill have led to the firing of three of the town’s five police officers, left the outcome of a string of drug arrests in doubt, prompted multi-million-dollar federal civil rights lawsuits by at least 17 plaintiffs and stirred up a political battle, including a petition seeking the impeachment of Mr. Schulte, over who is to blame for the mess.
