Night of the Spider

Last night I was in bed when I felt something land on my head, luckily it wasn't an airplane, it was much smaller than that.
Ever since the Night of the Scorpion , I've been sleeping with one eye open, I grabbed my UV flashlight expecting to see a scorpion, no scorpion, just a big ol spider.

I asked Shelly to get me something to kill it with, it crawled behind the headboard and was on the wall.

She handed me her Kindle, I thought

"What am I suppose to do, read it to death?"

There was no way I could reach it with the Kindle, so it wound up getting away.

Male Agelenopsis spp. spider
Shelly and I both have been calling these kinds of spiders Wolf Spiders all our lives, we were wrong.

This is a Grass Spider -

Agelenopsis spp.
(Grass Spiders)

Summary
“Grass Spiders” are represented by 13 species collectively found throughout most of the U.S. and southern Canada, and northern Mexico. Like all members of the funnel weaver family Agelenidae, they spin dense, non-sticky, sheet-like webs with a funnel-like retreat where the spider hides.

  1. for some funny reason i almost never kill spiders. i'll go to a lot of trouble to gently catch them and take them outside.

they catch mosquitos and black flies. the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

  2. Billy - If they are outside, I don't hurt them, but inside the house is MY turf, they screwed up and must pay the ultimate price.

When I was a kid there was a garden spider(?) that lived right outside my bedroom window. The big red black and yellow kind that makes white ziz-zags in its web. It was almost a pet, I wouldn't let anybody bother it.
