Introspective - Gun Control and Philosophy

As a kid I was always interested in laws, the rules that society sets for behavior.
I thought about them a lot and formed opinions about them way before most kids, just because most kids couldn't care less about stuff like that.
I had a Libertarian philosophy before I had even heard of a Libertarian. I knew there must be people who felt like I did about laws, it was such a relief to find out that there were.
The gay marriage issue was easy for me, leave them alone, let them get married.
Drug issue, easy, legalize all drugs.
The military draft, easy, it's very wrong, they should have an all volunteer military and now they do.
Basically victimless crimes, shouldn't be crimes.
Owning guns, easy, people have the right to defend themselves.
The thought of putting someone in prison because they own a gun, that's straight up crazy.
The argument that someone else did something bad with a gun, so therefore you shouldn't be able to have one, is ludicrous.
I was always so glad that my dad had a gun and I had no doubt whatsoever that he would use it to protect his family.
We lived way out in the boonies and it would take at least a half an hour for the police to arrive, if we were lucky.
As I got a little older I got my own gun and knew that my dad was the first line of defense, but I had his back.
The gun control issue is such a no-brainier to me, people should be able to defend themselves.
Crime only gets worse when the people have no guns, look at Australia, look at Chicago.
The bad guys are going to have guns no matter what the law says, so the good guys need to arm up.
If a person doesn't want a gun, that's cool, but at least let the rest of us defend ourselves.
