RESIDENTS in St Ann, on Jamaica's north coast, felt a magnitude 5.1 earthquake early yesterday morning, the University of the West Indies Earthquake Unit has confirmed. There were no reports of damage or injuries.
The earthquake struck around 3:43 am.
The quake's epicentre was located approximately 150 kilometres (93 miles) north of Montego Bay or west-southwest of Bayamo in south-western Cuba, the earthquake unit said in a statement. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported the earthquake struck at a depth of 5.1 kilometres (three miles).
About 200 earthquakes occur in and around Jamaica each year, most of which are minor, having magnitudes less than 4.0.

When ever I feel like helping Jamaica, just a little bit, I buy some Red Stripe beer. I drink a lot of beer but I doubt I alone can really help them. What if a lot of people in America bought Red Stripe to help out? Think about it, no charity middle man to skim off the money, just free enterprise. It would at least help out the people working there, maybe get extra hours or they might have to hire more workers.
