  1. Ah, yes... SSRI's. Some of the most dangerous drugs in existence. While I was in the Navy(I was a hospital corpsman for 11 years), there were so many people on those drugs. People were being prescribed these drugs by family practice doctors without much of an interview to see if they really needed an anti-depressant. Sometimes I wondered if even the mental health specialists were too lazy to interview their patients and were just giving them meds like prozac, paxil, zoloft, etc.

Patients are told that it can take up to two weeks for the drugs to take effect. In the meantime, one of the side effects is, get ready... suicidal ideation! It's not uncommon for a patient to have severe withdrawal symptoms when they try to stop taking one of these drugs.

  2. Jason - My doctor gave me Zoloft, I started feeling real bummed out in about a week and stopped taking it. I never said that I was depressed, I screwed up and told him I liked beer. I guess he thought I must be depressed if I like beer. I'm beginning to believe that he is just an educated idiot.
My wife took it for quite a while, when she stopped, she had electrical-like jolts going through her head. She's off of it now and acts like her old normal self.
They'll arrest you for having pot but they let doctors sling this hardcore crap, almost at random, all day long.

  3. I'm glad you all were able to get off those meds. And the electrical shock thing is pretty common when someone stops taking them... especially with Paxil.

I like beer too.. Lone Star being my favorite domestic beer.. it's cheap and.. well, not too bad.

  4. This new health bill is gonna be a bonanza for the pill-pushing quacks, like the bastards that almost killed my dad with their poison!
There's a dangerous dark side and undercurrent to the medical profession in this country that longs for some kind of gov't sinecure because it's too freaking incompetent to stand on its own.

  5. Jason - I need to revisit Lone Star beer it's been a while. It must be pretty good, I remember a friend and I going to Texas and bringing back a keg, everybody loved it.

Ted - Yeah, I can feel the darkside undercurrent when I see my doctor, like my guard needs to be up. It shouldn't be like that.
