"The 'war on drugs,' Mr. President, is a war on people. Drugs don't go to prison; people do. Drugs don't have families, homes or lives to lose; people do. You offer to 'extend a hand' to our enemies - won't you extend a hand to your own countrymen? You have the power to end Nixon's war, to bring half a million of our sons and daughters, our brothers and sisters, our husbands and our wives home. You have the power to restore freedom to the once-proud 'and of the Free.' Wouldn't that be a 'change' worth fighting for?"

I agree, but right now we have bigger issues..like finding a democrat that pays their fucking taxes.
ReplyDeletelets get back to the war on drugs. rita makes some excellent points.
ReplyDeleteThe War on Drugs is institutional insanity and prohibition has never worked. This is the greatest social illness we face as a society and we will change it.
ReplyDeleteLook at the web site of Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (leap.cc) watch their great presentations and know that Slavery is alive and well in the US today it is called our Drug Laws.

Billy - Yep, I like the way Rita put that. Obama's our best chance for change in that area, I hope he does the right thing.
