Remembering High School Chorus

It was the late 1970's it seemed like the high school was just making up classes for us to attend. I took Chorus, there were a lot of pretty girls taking the class so, why not?

Most of us took the class just to goof around, but when the Christmas season rolled around we were getting pretty good at Christmas carols. I actually enjoyed getting to go to shopping malls and sing. I guess I also enjoyed the long bus rides with the before mentioned pretty girls.

We played it straight with most of the Christmas songs but there was one song we always sang "alternative" lyrics to, it was "One Tin Soldier". Our teacher, lovingly referred to as Mrs. Birdshit, always knew there was something going on with that song but could never really quite figure out what.

I can only remember part of the alt lyrics, but here they are:

"All the people from Pauls Valley - sent the hooker up the hill - to collect the mountain oysters- from the people they did kill."
