Marijuana Scientific Study - THC-exposed offspring were more goal oriented and harder working

Rats that smoked marijuana in their teen years are more likely to have offspring that seek out heroin.

Grandchildren of the pot smoking rats became raging alcoholics.

Great grandchildren of the stoner rats preferred to attend raves and roll on Molly or MDMA.

Scientist can only speculate as to which horrible substance the next generation of rats will enjoy.

(This study was done by Chester and his friends behind the 7-11 on Main.)

Okay, the real study wasn't that far out there, but almost.

Besides they misinterpret the results.

"THC-exposed offspring worked harder to self-administer heroin by pressing a lever multiple times to get heroin infusion."

You could just as easily say "THC-exposed offspring were more goal oriented and harder working."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The study is published online January 22, 2014, in Neuropsychopharmacology.

"Our study emphasizes that cannabis [marijuana] affects not just those exposed, but has adverse affects on future generations," said Yasmin Hurd, PhD, the study's senior author, and professor of psychiatry and neuroscience at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. "Finding increased vulnerability to drug addiction and compulsive behavior in generations not directly exposed is an important consideration for legislators considering legalizing marijuana."

In the study, Dr Hurd and colleagues gave adolescent male rats 1.5 mg/kg of THC, similar to about one joint in human use. None of the rats had been exposed to THC before, but their parents were exposed to THC as teens and then mated later in life. THC-exposed offspring worked harder to self-administer heroin by pressing a lever multiple times to get heroin infusion.

Although marijuana use and safety tends to be discussed in terms of its impact to the individual during the lifetime, few studies have addressed adverse effects in future generations.

Excuses From a Blogger

Reasons that I haven't been posting.

Or maybe just - Excuses;

I was sick with some kind of pseudo-flu.

It's not too cool to post from work anymore.

I've been unbelievably busy, so many irons in the fire.

Parents, Children, Grandchildren.

I could go on and on, but of course, I've got No Time.

Two Oklahoma Highway Patrol Officers Punched Elderly Deaf Man Until He Bled From His Eyes

Excerpted from HUFFINGTON POST:
According to a website set up for Pearl Pearson, the 64-year-old man is recovering from his injuries nearly two weeks after a violent confrontation with two Highway Patrol officers during a traffic stop.
“Pearl pulled over and rolled down his window, expecting an officer to ask for [his] identification,” the website states. “An officer struck him in the face before Pearl had the chance to do anything. As you can see, he was struck multiple times.”
The website alleges Pearson, who is deaf and diabetic, has a placard on his driver’s side door that says, “Driver is deaf.” His license also allegedly indicates he is deaf.
“An interpreter was never provided while Pearl was under the care of law enforcement,” the website states. “Not during the booking, hospital, or time at the jail was an interpreter provided, even though Pearl requested one.”
Oklahoma Highway Patrol spokesman George Brown told HuffPost that troopers Eric Foster and Kelton Hayes have been placed on suspension with pay.”An internal investigation is being conducted,” Brown said. “If it is determined there were any violations of department policy, the appropriate action will be taken.”
The troopers stopped Pearson because he allegedly fled the scene of a car accident in south Oklahoma City. When they stopped him, he “resisted Trooper Foster and Trooper Hayes … [and] refused to comply with repeated lawful orders to display his hands,” according to a police affidavit.
“A physical altercation ensued for approximately seven minutes,” the affidavit states.
The document does not indicate whether the troopers were aware Pearson is hearing impaired.
Pearson was taken into custody at the scene and ultimately charged for resisting arrest and leaving the scene of an accident.

Americans CAN OPT OUT of Obamacare without being penalized or imprisoned

Ever heard of a federal law 42 USC § 18115: Freedom Not to Participate in Federal Health Insurance Programs?

I haven’t either.

But thanks to FOTM reader Joseph, now we all do!

This is how Cornell University Law School’s website describes 42 USC § 18115:

No individual, company, business, nonprofit entity, or health insurance issuer offering group or individual health insurance coverage shall be required to participate in any Federal health insurance program created under this Act(or any amendments made by this Act), or in any Federal health insurance program expanded by this Act (or any such amendments), and there shall be no penalty or fine imposed upon any such issuer for choosing not to participate in such programs.

The website further explains that the Act referred to in 42 USC § 18115 is Obamacare:

This Act, referred to in text, is Pub. L. 111–148, Mar. 23, 2010, 124 Stat. 119, known as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. For complete classification of this Act to the Code, see Short Title note set out under section 18001 of this title and Tables.

The Adventures of Pittufik - (a small boy from the village)

Pittufik was a small boy from the village.

He had never really thought about it much before, but with Fathers Day coming up

Pittufik's  curiosity about his father was in full bloom.

Pittufik started asking all the villagers if they knew anything about his father.
Pittufik had never met his father, but was told that he was a small man from a ship.

The ship's name was Northwind and it was part of an expedition called Operation Nanook.

Pittufik, not quite satisfied with the information, asked if there was anything else that he knew about

 his father.

He was from Greenland and chose your name, Pittufik.

As you know, we have an annual Beerfest.

There were a lot of drunk people there, some of them making love in public.

At one point everyone's attention turned to the noises coming from the place where we tie the dogs.

Let's just say you were conceived in grand fashion as all the villagers looked on in fascination and delight.

Your father may have been a little man, but he was quite...energetic and athletic.

So in honor of that night you were named  Pittufik, which is a Greenlandish word  for

"the place where we tie the dogs".

Oh yes, one more thing,  he told me to give you these words of advise;

"Watch out were the Huskys go and don't you eat that yellow snow."

Will new Colo. pot law ever inspire sane and sensible approach to drugs in Oklahoma?

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- As the sweet smell of green - marijuana and money - fills the air and cash registers here in the Centennial State following the official launch on New Year's Day of the state's Amendment 64, sour-faced officials in neighboring Oklahoma are anxiously awaiting to lock up more pot users, particularly focusing on drivers coming into the Panhandle from ganja-friendly Colorado.

See full story at: reddirtreport.com

...So, what about back home in Oklahoma? Pot users here don't have much to smile about, particularly as marijuana legalization advocates like Norma Sapp fight a fairly lonely battle and law enforcement comes down hard on people found with even minuscule amounts on their person. This, as the states jails burst at the seams and the prison system is underfunded and not improving.

We know Gov. Mary Fallin and Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper are friends. Perhaps some of Hickenlooper's common sense will rub off on the more rigid Fallin. One can only hope.
